This is another excellent duet book.As a piano teacher and church musician, this book would be most appropriate for students in the late level 2 - level 3 environment.This book contains arrangments with eighth notes, some "larger" intervals, and some accidentals.Titles range from Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, In the Garden, Morning Has Broken, Simple Gifts/Holy, Holy, Holy + a couple of other fun children's hymns.I was very pleased with the variety of hymns in this volume; I personally would not classify this as an early intermediate book.A 3rd and 4th grader recently played out of it during church service, and it was very well received by the congregation.This book is an excellent addition to your music library - if you have elementary aged kids who have opportunities to play at church.

Bill Evans - Everything Happens to Me: A Musical Biography (Book) [Paperback] Review

I also prefer How My Heart Sings over this one -I'm a huge Evans fan and as a jazz musician, I was thrilled about finding a "musical biography". Well, just repeating the same old stories as all the other books on the subject and then throwing in comments about the recordings -some of them suspiciously harsh, even- does not make it any more musical than any other biography. Not only that, but the times he comments on the actual music, he is almost invariably mistaken and wrong; "Freddie Freeloader" in NOT in a minor key and "These Things Called Changes" is based on "What Is This Thing Called Love", not "All The Things You Are" as Shadwick suggests. If he ever really studied the Manne-Hole live recordings instead of undeservedly dismissing them, he would know that Evans was already using the very same changes. As a collector of everything about Mr.Evans, I had to get this but I would not recommend it to anyone. Two stars for the subject alone.

Bach Short Preludes & Fugues (Kalmus Edition) [Paperback] Review

The layout of this book is exactly the same as older Kalmus editions, but the format is smaller. Not only scores are now too small, the print quality itself is low: staff lines and text elements have gaps, multiple beams touch etc. This makes everything very hard to read, especially for beginners. It simply looks like a cheap copy. I returned it and was lucky to find an old Peters edition elsewhere - a little discolored due to age, but much more enjoyable.

Music for Little Mozarts [Audiobook, CD] [Audio CD] Review

This is a two CD set each CD is 30 minutes long.The second CD is for the "music discovery book", I love this CD, it is just perfect for group music classes and it is a fun CD for kids to just listen to.There are 25 songs: a hello song (mentions mozart mouse and beethoven bear), a goodbye song (could be used for any program), 8 rhythm instrument songs, 5 movement/music appreciation songs, and 8 listening/ear training songs.

The first CD is essentially a "book on CD" of the "music lesson" book and I don't see why you would ever use it because a teacher could read the story herself much more entertainingly.

Symphony No. 4 (Kalmus Classic Edition) [Paperback] Review

I was looking for this somewhat hard to find score for my collection...and with some avid searching, I found and purchased it.With all of the scores I have, I already knew what to expect and the condition of the book itself was fine.Seeing that I'm going to make full use of it with markings of all sorts, as long as the book isn't trashed, I'm ok with the condition of it.The 4th is not the most popular of Mahler symphonies, but I always enjoy all of his work(s), regardless of the content.Thanks Amazon for helping me locate the score!:D

The Liturgical Organist, Vol. 1 [Paperback] Review

I'm in this book virtually every Mass I play. At some point (pre, during, or post) during the liturgy I need a brief piece of fill. Major and minor keys are each represented with pieces ranging from 4 bars to over a page. Also, modulation formulas and extended pieces. All arranged by key. A very handy book that fills both those expected and unexpected gaps in the service.
