Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Lesson Book 1A (Book & CD)--Spanish Edition [Paperback] Review

Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Lesson Book 1A--Spanish Edition [Paperback]In Mexico, they teach using the Solfeggio Scale. This book is useless for teaching in Mexico. Alfred apparently had this book translated from English, and I like the Alfred Method, when I am teaching in the United States. In Mexico, they do not use the letter names for the notes, but use the Solfeggio Scale (do-re-mi-fa, etc.). Do not buy this book if you want to learn piano so that you can communicate with other musicians in Mexico, or if you are teaching a Mexican student who hopes to continue his or her education in a Mexican school. I would also check the other Latin American countries before ordering this book - I suspect they too use the Solfeggio Scale System and not the letter name note system (C-D-E-F, etc.).

Product Description:
The Lesson Books are at the core of the Basic Piano Course and should be used as the basic instructional tutor for all students. To ensure problem-free progress throughout the course, and to avoid gaps that might impede progress, the authors have used "overlapping concepts." This means that after a concept has been introduced, it continues to be reinforced simultaneously with the introduction of new concepts. Use the Lesson Books in conjunction with the other core subject books, Theory Books and Recital Books, plus any supplemental books you feel will enhance your students' experiences at the piano.
